Where's The Outrage?

Ok. This is my first post on this blog, but I might as well jump right in. I don't claim to have my finger on the pulse of Canadians, but I don't sense much thirst for change in our federal parliament right now.

With all the bluster in the media about Stephen Harper's bumbling of the environment issue, together with Stephane Dion being elected Liberal leader earlier this month, you would think Canadians are ready to throw out Stephen Harper after only one year of governing our great Dominion.

The Montreal Gazette today published an article talking about Harper 'going green' in order to save his political skin. The last public poll I read on the issues that matter most to Canadians had the environment #1, but with only 17% of the vote. And this poll was done by CBC/Environics. That tells me there are no defining issues right now to Canadians.

I'm anxious for an election for only one reason, and thats to truly find out what Canadians think of the Stephen Harper government. Harper's style is sharp departure from what Canadians became accustomed to under Chretien/Martin administrations of the last 13 years. Harper has acted decisively on almost all his priorities, and even acted courageously on a few others, particularly on foreign matters such as Afghanistan, and the Israel/Hezbollah war.

Overall something tells me that the result of the next election result may surprise the mainstream media elites in this country. I think that over the course of this year Canadians have come to respect Harper's principled style, and that he will reap the benefits of that on election day '07.
